Today, JayTee took me to the Nambucca AA Meeting. I have only been there once before. It has made such a difference to my psyche. The kind of AA I grew up on. Val was turning 58 years and will be 90 in January. She had heard that I was dead. I am not, as yet, dead.
I would like to be in a position to sit amongst meetings with ease. I have had a far better week. Been going out and doing things most days – well it seems like most days. Enough day to keep me happy anyways and out of hospital.
Well – today I added the spiritual and then the lift came with the mother of the brothers of my Kids.
KEEP ADDING THE SPIRITUAL.
Adding the Spiritual and finding the Good in the Little Things. I have put up a good fight this last couple of years. I sat there in that Meeting – in the Sun – looked around and my beloved alcoholics and felt the spark of the long formed skills which have enabled me to live a much longer life than I was looking at in 1987 and a Life of Quality and Decency and Goodness.
I have put up a good effort against truly difficult things. Afraid and lonely.
KEEP ADDING THE SPIRITUAL.
To the Hospital and the illness and Wasteland in which I now dwell. Add the spiritual to the nights when I no longer sleep.
I SAT THERE in the Meeting. At Home. Safe. Safe no matter what and no matter whom.
Plus a most unlikely form of help came my way today. And I have the ability to accept it. A nurse from the Hep Clinic who has offered to take me to Kempsey and see them there. A REAL outing.
BECAUSE OF RECOVERY, I AM ABLE TO ACCEPT HELP FROM UNLIKELY PLACES.
Bedtime now. Lordie, I would like to sleep all night. Almost no pain anyways. And a book I am enjoying.
Just moments now. They don’t join up. I don’t remember.
“Someone else will remember for you. “
Elder’s Meditation of the Day – August 21
“The greater the faith, the greater the result.”
–Fools Crow, LAKOTA
The Creator designed us to act on faith. We are able to do this by holding firm to our beliefs. If we believe something and if we don’t want the belief to change, we need to add the power of the Great Spirit to this belief. We must always have the spiritual added to our beliefs. If we don’t add the Spirit, then we may very well change our minds the first time we are tested. Each time we are tested and we don’t change our minds, we get stronger. The wind may blow on the red willow trees bending them and causing the roots to grow deeper. The more the wind bends the tree, the bigger, stronger, and deeper the roots grow. We should be happy that we are tested. It’s the Creator’s way of making us have greater faith for greater results.
Great Mystery, Grandfather, I know if I am tested today that I can count on You to give me the courage to get to the other side. On the other side of every test is the reward of strength. Make me strong.
